Leader PoKo is one of the 53 local action groups (LAGs) operating in Finland. We operate in Upper Tampere Region which consist of communities Juupajoki, Mänttä-Vilppula, Ruovesi and Virrat.
Leader PoKo acts as a local developer in its area, promoting the Upper Tampere Region’s vitality based on the ideas and needs of the residents. Our task is to develop the area in cooperation with various operators. We enable new activities by funding the projects of small companies and associations.
We Act – We encourage and collaborate to develop Upper Tampere Region.
We Advice – We help ideas turn into action. We help with the preparation of projects and, as needed, also along the journey. All our advisory services are free of charge.
We Fund – You can apply for funding from us for the development activities of small companies, associations and other communities.
Along with the EU and the state of Finland, municipalities are Leader’s important financiers. The active use of Leader funding by the municipalities guarantees that the invested euros are returned to the region in multiples.
Leader PoKo (officially Rural Development Association PoKo) has been operating for the best of Upper Tampere Region already since 1998. Leader PoKo’s Board decides e.g. about supported projects and business subsidies and other development activities. The residents, communities and public administration of each municipality are equally represented on the Board. The Chairman of the Board is Arto Pirttilahti. Officials Jutta Ahro and Seppo Tolvanen are responsible for Leader PoKo’s practical advisory work.
